Togo should soon validate its new mining strategy

(Togo First) - Togo's new mining strategy should soon be validated. Last Thursday, a validation session for the document was indeed held in Adetikope, in the Agoè Nyivé prefecture.

This initiative falls under the Mining Governance and Development Project (PDGM). It also aims at providing the mining industry with a "means to record more efficient performances and better implement its programs," says Marcel Sogle, Director of the Mines and Geology Office.

Mining contributes 22% of Togo's exports and up to 3.7% of its GDP, according to the latest estimates.

Out of all the 'Doing Business’ indicators, Property Registration is where Togo has improved the most since 2018. Indeed, after spending years in the lowest part of this ranking, the country now seeks to beat Rwanda which is the best performer on this index in Africa. To do so, Lomé has been introducing many reforms, with the latest batch implemented this year.
